October Update:

At our last meeting we held an election for LWML board members. It wasn’t exactly a nail biter of an election as we only had one person running for the open positions on our Board of Directors. But we are blessed and pleased to have these new ladies joining us come January:  Susan Creech as Treasurer, Linda Tucker as Communications Chair, and Kathleen Patella as Ways and Means Chair.  Thank you to these ladies for being willing to serve.  And we owe a special debt of gratitude to Carol Wiemert who has faithfully and efficiently served as our Treasurer for the past  three years.
We held the Eastern Zone Rally at our church on Saturday, October 27th with the board leading the efforts and all of the attendees pitching in (as welcoming hostesses, helping with various tasks, and providing delicious salads for lunch).  Sixteen guests from five area churches and twenty-six of our ladies attended.  A major goal for the day was to get us to mingle and get to know each other better. This was accomplished with a fun “Bible Pairs” matching ice breaker game. Later we shared what our various congregations do to connect with and help the members of their own churches and their local communities. Many great ideas were exchanged which may spark ideas and inspire new efforts to share God’s love in the world. Pastor Bill and Rebekah Bajwa led us in meaningful worship sessions in the opening and closing portions. Our member, Debbie Fick, led an informative, inspiring and entertaining two-part seminar on the topic of “Being Connected – to God and Each Other.” Thank you to everyone who helped make it a wonderful day.

November 4th we will be holding LWML Sunday.  You will see the ladies of the church carrying out the various service opportunities such as greeting, ushering, and reading Scripture.
Our next General Meeting will be our Christmas luncheon.  It will be held at the Morning Glory Inn in Clayton on Sunday, December 16th.  This has been a tradition and is always very popular. We will post a sign-up sheet on the LWML bulletin board near the church library soon.  For now, put the date on your calendar, ladies, whether you have ever attended before or not. We would love to have you join us!
Finally, our annual fundraiser of the Cookie Walk and Craft Fair is coming up on December 1st.  Because this date is the same as a couple of other big craft fairs being held in the area, we are finding as of now that we don’t have as many craft vendors signed up as we have in past years.  This is a perfect opportunity for you or any of your friends/neighbors who are talented in making crafts to have a chance to show off and make some money too. The price of an 8’ x 8’ vendor space is a very reasonable $25 (more for electricity).  Please contact Jane Wilson at if you have any questions about the Craft Fair.
We need a large number (and variety) of cookies in order to offer them not only to our congregation but also to the public as we did last year.  We are prayerfully asking that ladies of Holy Cross (and men, too, if they like to bake!) can help contribute Christmas cookies or candies for our event.  The more we sell, the more we make, and the more money we will have to work with to support the various missions of our church!  Sign-up sheets for cookie donations will be available on the LWML bulletin board shortly.  We appreciate all of your help making this event a success!
Plan to come out and shop with us on December 1st! Tell your neighbors, friends, and family to join you so they can look like they’ve been slaving over a hot stove for weeks as they serve their holiday meals.
