Holy Cross Announcements:
Advent Worship Tonight
Dear Family,
Tonight we begin our Midweek Advent Worship Services to prepare us for the coming of our promised Savior. The theme for the Advent season will be “Family Life,” because this time of the year can be the best of times with family, but it can also be the worst of times. Everyone needs godly wisdom when it comes to family relationships during the holiday season. So we will look at some of the families connected with our Lord’s birth, namely Joseph & Mary, along with Zechariah & Elizabeth, to see how they handled the joys and hardships that came their way in the midst of their busy preparations. Tonight’s message is titled, “Our Way,” based on Luke 1:57-66, in which we will see how Zechariah & Elizabeth made a very important decision together. Worship will take place from 7:00 – 7:30pm, with dinner being served from 5:45pm – 6:30pm. More about this series will be in your newsletter that will be sent to you later on today. We look forward to seeing you tonight.
God’s Blessings,

15th Anniversary Celebration
This Sunday, October 30, we will celebrate our 15th Anniversary as a congregation! A special guest will join us in worship, a gift will be given to every family to remember this day, and a reception will take place between worship services with pictures and items from the past 15 years. Come and enjoy the food and fellowship between worship services. There will be no Sunday School for adults and children, however our Sunday School children will be singing at both services. I look forward to seeing you on Sunday for this special celebration!
God’s Blessings,
Pastor Bill

Special Guest Sunday
Dear Family:
We hope everyone is doing well and that power & water has returned to your homes. This Sunday, as part of our month long 15th anniversary celebration, Mrs. Amanda Allen will be joining us in worship to thank us for our support of the Backpack Buddies program at East Clayton Elementary School. Each Sunday someone from the community will be joining us to thank us for our years of ministry in support of the greater Clayton community. Last Sunday we were privileged to have Trooper Brian Maynard from the Highway Patrol in worship with us, despite the flooding, to thank us for the many ways we support our local police. Please join us this Sunday as we welcome Amanda Allen.
Speaking of Backpack Buddies, we need your help. We are completely out of canned vegetables and we are very low on canned meats. If you can bring in a can of vegetables or meat this Sunday that would be very helpful.
Finally, we will have a very special 15th Anniversary Celebration event on Sunday, October 30. A special guest will join us in worship and we have a unique gift that illustrates the theme for the day that we will be giving to every family at the end of worship. Please mark Sunday, October 30 on your calendar to join us for an exciting anniversary experience.
God’s Blessings,

Hurricane Matthew
Hello Everyone,
We wanted everyone to know that the church has power and water, so if anyone needs water, ice, or a place with electricity to do some work you are welcome to come to the church. We know we still have members who do not have water, so you are welcome to come by if you would like to fill bottles with water or coolers with ice. Please give us a call before you come so we can have things prepared for you. We also encourage you to check in on your neighbors or any members of the church who live near you.
God’s Blessings,
Pastor Bill and Pastor Tom

Holy Cross News
We have several new things that are starting this Sunday and we need your support for the following activities:
1) With our students back in school we are beginning our Backpack Buddies ministry once again and we are low on the following items:
Canned Fruits
Canned Meats
Canned Vegetables
100% Juice Boxes
2) Sunday School will begin once again this Sunday, September 11, for adults, youth, and children at 9:45am. There are two new studies for adults:
“Be Bold, Stand Firm!” – This study will look at topics such as marriage and government, persecution and terrorism, good works and the church, so that we can better understand how to address such topics in the midst of a changing culture and still remain faithful to God’s Word. This study will be led by Pastor Tom.
“I Need Spiritual Refreshment“ – This study will look at the book of Hebrews in order to get a fresh perspective on Jesus and practical applications for living the Christian life in today’s world. This study, led by Pastor Bill, is designed to give you a strong burst of courage to endure in the faith regardless of our culture or circumstances.
3) Since Sunday School will begin this Sunday, we plan to have all of our children process in during the opening song, “I Am The Church,” at each worship service. Our Sunday morning and Wednesday night teachers will be installed during worship on Sunday. We still need one Sunday School teacher for grades 3/4 this Sunday. If you would be willing to serve, please let us know.
4) If you have a son who is interested in Cub Scouts, Holy Cross has a Pack that we sponsor, so if you would like more information about our Cub Scout Pack there will be an information table with scouting families available for you to see on Sunday in the lobby area.
Now that the summer travel and vacation season is coming to an end and new ministries are starting, we look forward to seeing everyone in worship this Sunday.

Family Night
Pastor Bill will be teaching the adult class titled, “Go and Be Reconciled.” In this study we will look at the difference between conflict resolution and reconciliation. Using Scripture and case studies, this study will provide some practical ways for us to be reconciled with God and each other. We look forward to seeing you tonight.

New Worship Time
Just a reminder that our early worship service time will change this Sunday, September 4, back to 8:30am.
Also, we would like to invite all of you to a special presentation this Sunday, September 4, at 10:00am as the team from Holy Cross who went to Guatemala (Susan Creech, Herman & Donna Steele, and Gary & Diane Wessell) will share what God did through them with pictures and stories. You will hear how your gifts of love were used there and how you can join the team next summer as they hope to go back to Guatemala.
God’s Blessings,
Pastor Bill and Pastor Tom
