June Update:

Hello Ladies,
Ask any of the 27 ladies who made it to the LWML Retreat at Oak Island on May 17-19 and they will tell you what a wonderful experience it was.  The organizing committee, led by Debbie Fick, did an outstanding job of taking care of all of the details that go into planning such an event. Debbie led us in exploring our theme of what it means to be PRECIOUS in God’s sight.  In small groups we discussed what this means regarding how we should reach out to others with this Good News in our own congregation and in our larger community.  We also enjoyed wonderful times of fellowship and getting to know each other better through our “Name the Baby Picture” icebreaker, our work together to make cards of encouragement for those in the nearby Gabriel Manor memory unit (some of us proved to be quite good artists!), our free time shopping or going to the beach, and our always hilarious board games evening. The worship service on Sunday was especially beautiful.  And the music throughout the weekend, led by Karla Bishop, was truly inspirational.  Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to organize the weekend – it was a real team effort.  We have reserved the same weekend after Mother’s Day for next year so—all you ladies of Holy Cross aged 18 and older—put it on your 2020 calendar!
One of the efforts of the retreat was that we solicited advice from some of the younger attendees about how to increase membership from our young adult population.  They came up with some great ideas which the Board will pursue.  We also asked some of them who are more techno-savvy to help us increase our presence on social media. Thanks to their enthusiastic support, the Holy Cross LWML is now on Facebook! To join our page, search Facebook for “Holy Cross LWML” or visit our website at and click on the Facebook link.
Congratulations to all of our seniors graduating from high school and college!  We will honor them with a reception between services on June 2nd.  Graduation is an important milestone and we wish each of you well in your next phase of life. Stay in touch with your church family, please.
The next General Meeting of LWML will be held on July 14th after the late service.  We always desire to host interesting speakers to raise our awareness of various issues and groups. If any of you have suggestions about such a speaker, please let me know so we can try to schedule them for future meetings. We will announce who our July speaker will be in the July newsletter.
Be safe and strong in the Lord over these upcoming summer months!
