Women’s Ministry

The Women’s Ministry is an active group at Holy Cross open to women of all ages.  They take part in various missions, within our congregation, locally, and worldwide.

Women’s Ministries

As Lutheran Women in Mission, we joyfully proclaim Christ, support missions, and equip women to honor God by serving others.

LWML spreads Christ’s love through missions, within our congregation, locally, and worldwide. Missions include Mite Boxes, Angel Tree Ministry, Salvation Army, and more. Another part of the program is monthly bible studies (listed separately below). Meets bimonthly, as well as, for special events. Times and locations vary.

Prayer Shawl Ministry:

Did you know…

  • The idea for Prayer Shawl Ministry begin in May, 1998 with just one shawl in a “knit three, purl three” pattern known as a “Seed Stitch” and symbolic of planting prayers as the knitting is done?  You can read more about the two remarkable women who began the ministry at www.shawlministry.com

  • That in the past several years this active ministry at Holy Cross has provided hundreds of shawls and lap blankets to our local rehabilitation, assisted living and nursing care facilities, kidney dialysis centers, IChoose Pregnancy Support Center in Clayton, homeless individuals through the Matthew Ministry here at Holy Cross, cancer patients at the Cancer Center just down Highway 42 from the church, patients at the Hospice House in Smithfield, and of course to members of our church family.

If you knit or crochet – or would even like to learn these skills – please join us as we begin meeting again for our 2021/22 session.  Please contact Joan Neuner via voice or text at 919-412-2064; or by email at wolfpackgirl518@gmail.com
