Pastor Bill accepted the call to serve as the Mission Developer for a new Lutheran Church in Clayton in October, 2000. The church officially chartered in October 2001 and Pastor Bill continues to serve as the Senior Pastor of Holy Cross.  Pastor Bill is a 1987 graduate of Virginia Military Institute, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army Signal Corps. He worked for a year as a personal assistant to United States Senator Paul Trible in Washington, DC and then served four years on active duty, three of them in Germany, as an Army communication officer.

In 1992 Pastor Bill left active duty, joined the Army reserve as a chaplain, and enrolled at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, where he earned his Master of Divinity degree in 1996.  He served as the pastor of All Saints Lutheran Church in Charlotte, North Carolina from 1996-2000.  Pastor Bill retired from the Army reserve in 2005.  He and his wife, Sue, have one daughter, Sarah.

Wendy did not grow up in this area but has lived here since 1997. Her father was in the Air Force so as a child, she moved several times.  She became a member of Holy Cross in October, 2003.  At that time, Wendy operated three child care centers in the Johnston County area. She became very active with the childcare governing board and officially joined Open Arms as the director in September, 2006.  Since 2011, Wendy has been assisting our Southeastern District with developing other Christian Child Development Centers.  She has a wonderful group of child care teachers working with her at our facility.  Wendy lives in the Cleveland Township area with her daughter, Emily and son, Matthew.

Cassy was born and raised in Michigan. While in Michigan Cassy received her Associates of Arts from Grand Rapids Community College and then attended Grand Valley State University. She moved to North Carolina in 2011 and began working with Holy Cross in October, 2012. Cassy lives in downtown Clayton with her son, Bryce and daughter, Savannah.
