City BBQ Fundraiser

Holy Cross Family.

As you may be aware, the Holy Cross High School Youth who will be attending the National Youth Gathering in New Orleans in July will be hosting a Holy Cross Spirit Night at City Barbeque in White Oak (110 Cabela Dr, Garner, NC 27529). The fundraiser will be held all day on Monday, April 11th, between 11am and 10pm.

City Barbeque is donating 25% of sales to Holy Cross for all orders that are accompanied by the flyer attached to this email. You may either show the cashier the flyer on your phone or bring a printed-copy of the flyer on April 11th. Walk-in sales as well as phone orders are both acceptable!

Not only has this fundraiser been successful for us in the past, it is a lot of fun to join our other brothers and sisters of Holy Cross for a very tasty meal at City Barbeque!

God’s Peace to you all…

Pastor Bill and Pastor Tom

Family Night

Hello Everyone:
Our “Family Night” ministries will begin again tomorrow night,
Wednesday, April 6, with dinner being served from 5:45pm – 6:30pm and Bible studies for children, confirmation students, youth, and adults from 6:45pm – 7:30pm.  There will be a new Adult Bible Study titled, “Persuasive Gospel,” in which we will consider how we talk to others about our faith.  We will look at different forms of persuasion and the ethics of persuasion in our lives.  Pastor Tom and Arthur Berger will be leading this study.  Arthur is a graduate student at NC State University and usually attends the late worship service on Sunday morning.  We are very happy that Arthur is willing to teach and we think you will really enjoy his class.  This class will serve as a nice lead in to another study we would like to do in the fall on Christian Ethics.  See you tomorrow night.
God’s Blessings,
Pastor Bill and Pastor Tom

Holy Week

Dear Family:
As we continue through Holy Week and prepare for our Easter celebrations, we would like to invite you to our special Holy Week worship services listed below: 1)

Thursday, March 24, at 7:00pm“Maundy Thursday.”  The word “maundy” is a Latin word that means “to mandate.”  In this service we will remember our Lord’s Last Supper with His disciples when He created or “mandated” Holy Communion.  We will look at the parable of the Great Banquet in Luke 14, receive Communion in the service, and end the service by stripping the altar as a reminder of when Jesus was stripped of His dignity as He was betrayed and arrested late that evening. 2) Friday, March 25, at 7:00pm“Good Friday Tenebre Service.”

The word “tenebre” means “darkness.”  In this service we will look at the parable of the Landowner and the Tenants in Matthew 21.  We will also focus on the seven last words or phrases that Jesus spoke from the cross.  The lights will slowly be turned out during this service and we will leave in darkness and silence to contemplate our Lord’s suffering and death for us on the cross. There will be no “Family Night” activities tonight, but we pray you will join us for these special worship services tomorrow and Friday as they will truly enhance your spiritual preparation for the joy of Easter morning.
In God’s Service,
Pastor Bill and Pastor Tom

Easter

Dear Family,

As we prepare for our Easter celebration, we need some help with two things:

1) Our Easter Egg Hunt for children will take place next Saturday, March 26, at 10:00am. We need individually wrapped candy that we can put in the eggs. If you can bring candy to the church by Tuesday, March 22, that would be great. If you have any questions, please contact Melissa deCathelineau at texans5@nc.rr.com.

2) Our Easter Breakfast will take place next Sunday, March 27, at 8:00am. We still need some casseroles, mini quiches, and breakfast meat. You can sign up to help at church or you can contact Stephanie Garehan at sgarehan@gmail.com.

Thank You Very Much!
Pastor Bill

Reminders

Hello Everyone: Our “Mite Madness” will continue this

Sunday, March 20, as our children will all have an opportunity to bring their Mite Boxes to the altar to add to our mite mission collection.  Thank you very much to all of you who have participated in this event over the last two weeks. Also, our Sunday School children will be singing in worship at both services this Sunday, March 20.  I invite you to join us as we support our children and wave our Palm branches to celebrate Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday. Finally, we plan to do some cleaning on the inside of the church this Saturday, March 19

, in order to prepare our wonderful facility for our Holy Week and Easter celebrations.  Please join us on Saturday between 8:00am and Noon as we could use your help.
In God’s Service,
Pastor Bill

Surprise at Worship

Dear Family, This

Wednesday, March 9, we plan to do something special in our Midweek Lenten worship service that we have never done in worship in the past.  We would like to invite you to join us on Wednesday evening at 7:00pm for this special worship service as you will see

the Word of God come alive in a new way right before your eyes.  We will focus on the Parable of the Sower and the Seed from Matthew 13 and we think you will enjoy this special event.
God’s Blessings,
Pastor Bill and Pastor Tom
